Team USA Beats Host Sweden in Final
by Mike McPartlin, Headmaster, Bridgedale Academy
We are proud to congratulate Bridgedale Academy grad Gabe Perreault and his USA Junior teammates for their Gold Medal victory at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Gabe scored the first goal in the Gold Medal game to stake the Americans to an early lead, and then added two assists in the third period as the US pulled away for a 6-2 victory. It was the sixth IIHF World Juniors Gold Medal for the USA overall, and the first since 2021.
A resident of Hinsdale, IL, and son of former NHL forward (and present Bridgedale on-ice instructor) Yanic Perreault, Gabe attended Bridgedale for three years while competing for the Chicago Mission '05 birth year teams before moving on to USA Hockey's National Team Develoment Program for two seasons.
Gabe was drafted by the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft last summer and this season is a freshman at Boston College, where he leads his team in scoring.
Winning a Gold Medal at the World Juniors is truly a major accomplishment and Bridgedale salutes Gabe and his USA teammates on their outstanding achievement.
Congratulations to Gabe (and his parents Yanic and July) on his IIHF World Juniors Gold Medal.
