Written by Mike McPartlin | Jan 8, 2016 3:30:00 PM

Bridgedale Academy 10th grader Spencer Stastney has given his verbal commitment to attend the University of Notre Dame on a hockey scholarship.

Spencer is a top student academically and is also highly regarded as one of the best players in the country at his age.

He becomes the 4th Bridgedale student-athlete to make his NCAA D1 commitment.

“Spencer is one of the best puck moving defenseman, if not the best, at his age level,” said Anders Sorensen, Spencer’s coach with the Chicago Mission U16 team. “His on-ice awareness both with and without the puck is elite. He has a very high skill level and is a great teammate."

“Spencer really is the full package,” said Bridgedale Headmaster Mike McPartlin, himself an ND alum. “He excels academically in all his subjects, and athletically he combines an extremely high hockey IQ with great versatility. Notre Dame has landed themselves a great recruit and we at Bridgedale are very excited for Spencer and his family.”

Congratulations to Spencer (and his parents Hoyt and Kathy) on his commitment to Notre Dame.

Bridgedale Academy is now accepting applications for the 2018-19 School Year.

Bridgedale Academy is an all-boys school for athletes, a prep school for serious youth hockey players. We will offer grades 5 through 8 in the 2018-19 school year. In addition to our winning combination of sports and academics, we focus on leadership training. We use a classical academic curriculum and our graduates go on to attend some of the most prestigious high schools in the midwest, including Lake Forest Academy, Culver Military Academy, Shattuck St. Mary’s, Northwood School, Benet Academy, Fenwick Prep, St. Ignatius Prep, Marmion Academy, Latin School and Providence Catholic. We pride ourselves on being the top youth hockey prep school in the nation. Thirteen (13) of our former or current students have already received their NCAA Division 1 college hockey commitments. Three (3) of our former students competed for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. Two (2) will begin their college playing careers in 2018-19 at Notre Dame. Several other Bridgedale grads will be playing junior hockey, including in the OHL, the USHL and the NAHL.
