    On a Hockey Scholarship

by Mike McPartlin, Headmaster, Bridgedale Academy

Bridgedale grad Tyler Haskins Chooses DenverWe are proud to congratulate Bridgedale Academy grad Tyler Haskins as he begins his freshman year with defending NCAA National Champion Denver University.

Tyler joins fellow Bridgedale grads Sean Behrens and Jack Devine, now both sophomores with DU's powerhouse program.

Originally from Rochester, MN, Tyler attended Bridgedale while competing for the Chicago Mission '03 birth year teams.

For the last two seasons, Tyler played in the United States Hockey League. He tallied 45 points (20g/25a) in 52 games for the Madison Capitals during the 2021-22 season, helping lead them to the USHL's Clark Cup finals.

He also played for USA Hockey's Under-17 Select Team at the 2019 Five Nations Tournament in Fussen, Germany, winning a Silver Medal.

While an 8th grader at Bridgedale and still only 14 years old, the highly sought-after Tyler was recruited by the University of Michigan and verbally agreed to become a Wolverine. Late this spring, however, he reopened his recruitment, testing the waters and even thinking he might return to to Madison for another year in the USHL.

But things changed quickly for Tyler when Denver called and offered him a spot on the Pioneers' 2022-23 squad. "When I got the call from Denver it was just a huge opportunity that I couldn't resist," he said.

"Tyler is a gifted athlete and an excellent hockey player," said Bridgedale Headmaster Mike McPartlin. "He combines his quickness and speed with outstanding skills and game savvy, and he tops it off with a high-end compete level."

"I'm so happy to see Tyler having so much success both academically and athletically," added Christina Di Pauli, Bridgedale's Academic Dean. "He was always respectful of what needed to be done both as a student and as an athlete, and it's wonderful to see it all pay off for him."

Congratulations to Tyler (and his parents Bob and Molly) on his scholarship to Denver University.
